A longform essay that I started nearly three years ago was published last week. Battle Dress was hard work to write: I was reckoning with decades-old sexual violence. For so many years, I felt like I had to keep this part of my life hidden. I didn't want to upset people or many anyone uncomfortable. I also did not want to be judged. To me, publishing this is a huge personal achievement. I am so happy to share this story--without shame and with much pride.
